The key to the Urban League’s efforts to bridge the “digital divide” is
its state of the art technology center. It provides basic, intermediate and advanced
computer training and GED courses, in partnership with El Centro Community College,
to citizens who have not had access to information technology. The classes include
Internet usage, keyboarding, Excel, Word, Access and certification programs.
Beginner Computer classes include Introduction
to Computers, Internet usage, keyboarding and Word for beginners.
Intermediate and Advanced Computer classes include Excel,
Word, Access and Power Point. Daily classes begin every eight weeks from 9:00
a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and evening classes are held two evenings a week.
GED Preparatory classes prepare students for math, writing,
language arts, physical science and social science GED exams. Students are given
a pre-assessment and then a post assessment following the six-week courses to
ensure that they are prepared. |
