The Institute for Minority Success (IMS) is composed of several programs that work with out-of-school and challenged youth, older adults and ex-offenders.
The programs offer participants opportunities to obtain a GED, technical, life and work skills, subsidized internships, on-the-job training, job placement assistance, substance abuse support, and case management. The programs include the following:
ACES program for GED preparation computer training, group and individual counseling, substance abuse support, case management, work ready and life skills training and anger management to individuals 18 year old and up who are ex-offenders, substances abusers and underachievers.
E3 Youth Empowerment is funded by the Department of Labor through the National Urban League and offers GED Training, computer/technical training, job readiness training, and vocational training, work internships and job placement.
It also provides community service, internships and on-the-job training, and paid stipends to out-of-school and/or adjudicated youth age 18 to 21.
Citywide HIV/AIDS Education, Outreach, and Prevention Program includes
small group level HIV/AIDS education sessions and outreach to adolescents ages
13 to 19 in the City of Dallas who are in households whose income is at least
51% at or below poverty level. Individuals targeted are adolescents of all ethnicities
who are sexually active and engage in unprotected sex or are not sexually active
but feel pressured by peers to become sexual active. |
