Spring Break 2010 is Here!!!

High School students, what are you doing for Spring Break???!!!??

Turn off the television set and come to the Urban League for a week that will change your life! You know we are all about opportunity and progress, and we can help you.

Yes, of course there will be academic work in MATH!!! But, it will be fun and you will learn. But that's not all, we are going to get on the bus and GO!! We have appointments to keep and people to see . . . people that can open up many doors for you. Curious???

Project Ready

The Project Ready - Dallas College Preparation project is a unique and comprehensive approach to addressing the academic, personal and social needs of youth in the Dallas community. The program is based on the belief that a student's personal and social maturity for college holds equal importance to their academic skill building. Over a twoyear period, the Project Ready - Dallas curriculum integrates academic preparation for college along with life skills development, personal, global and cultural awareness.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Program Requirements
Parent/Guardian engagement
Ages 14 - 16
9th or 10th grade in 2009-2010 school year

Program Goals/Expectations
After two years in Project Ready - Dallas , students can expect to
1. Take more challenging courses in high school
2. Take appropriate college access exams (SAT/ACT)
3. Apply to multiple colleges and universities
4. Obtain knowledge of career options and pathways
5. Create a plan for advancement

Program Activities
Project Ready - Dallas connects classroom learning to realworld experiences. Learning is introduced in a variety of methods so that truly no child is left behind. Through the use of technology and discussion of current events, they are challenged to increase their cognitive and reasoning skills, and are motivated by experts in professional environments. In two years, students are well on their way to being accepted into the college of their choice, and are better prepared to compete in a global economy. To this end, program activities inlcude

Academic Reinforcement (reading/math)
Real-world application and experience
Life skills development
Career paths and College tour field trips
Mentoring
